The women's health landscape is changing rapidly, and not always in the best of ways. Since the Dobbs vs. Jackson Women's Health Organization decision, the access to comprehensive women's care has been severely disrupted. Know that we at the Gynecology Institute are here for you with safe and available medical abortion care in the State of Illinois and within the applicable laws.

Dr. WIlliams and the legislative team with Congressperson Danny Davis, D-IL
Dr. Williams is the Legislative Chair for the Cook County Physician's Association www.ccpa.org and serves on ACOG's Political Action Committee. Every year, she travels to Washington, DC to advocate on behalf of YOU. Here's what we've done so far:
Work on the MOMMA act to decrease maternal morbidity and mortality, especially among Black Mommas.
Support of the MOMNIBUS Bill to support birthing and lactating individuals
Attempts to revise Medicare (and therefore Medicaid) to improve coverage
Support of including pregant and lactating people in pre and postopartum medication research: The Advancing Safe Medications for Moms and Babies Act
Again, know that we are here for you for early term medication abortion as long as it remains legal in the State of Illinois, and are fighting to ensure this remains the case.

Abortion is essential health care!
But we can only do so much. PLEASE make sure to vote. Vote for your own local representatives, state reps, and federal. We cannot do this without YOU!
Yours in Women's Health,
The Team at the GIC

Reading this made me think about how vital women’s healthcare advocacy is — especially for older women who often struggle to find proper support and resources. The article’s message about empowering women to take charge of their health connects deeply with what I see every day when helping seniors find comfortable, compassionate living options. At this one, I’m reminded how essential it is to ensure our loved ones receive not just care, but understanding and dignity. That same commitment to advocacy should guide how we support aging women — from preventive care to creating environments where they can truly thrive.
It’s reassuring to see organizations like the Gynecology Institute standing up for accessible women’s healthcare during such challenging times. Ensuring safe and informed medical care is essential for overall well-being. Alongside reproductive health, addressing other health concerns, such as sleep quality, is crucial too-solutions like sleep apnea treatment can significantly enhance daily energy, focus, and long-term health outcomes.
